This past Sunday, 7/6, we continued our Summer Sermon Series, “Church Rummage Sale”, and entered in on the period of Kings.

The sermon title was “The Beginning of Empire & The Giving of a King” largely based upon 1 Samuel chapters 8 through 15. The sermon did not record properly, however starting in the next few days I will begin a small online daily teaching through this period of, finding opportunity to reshare and re-record those thoughts. The teaching series will be titled, Give Us A King, Like The Other Nations, and will stream on Facebook and be posted on YouTube.

A few years ago, I had the privilege to write an introductory commentary to the Books of Kings for The Kingdom Bible, You can read that commentary at the following link, https://thekingdombible.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/1-n2-2-Kings-Synopsis.pdf

As I’ve mentioned and promoted before, I do plan to write up an exhaustive contextual and applicational commentary on the the Books of Kings titled, Kingdom Kings. Pray for time and effort to be put into that soon. In the meantime, consider finding and reviewing a commentary on the Books of Kings, I have been reviewing Peter J. Leithart’s commentary – Brazos Theological Commentary on the Bible, 1 & 2 Kings.

In the sermon I mentioned the books;

  • Jesus For President by Shane Claiborne
  • Beyond Creation Science by Tim Martin & Jeff Vaughn
  • Betweeen Babel & Beast by Peter J. Leithhart

Also, I mentioned doing some personal research, learning, and discerning about the errors of “Christian Nationalism”
